Clay and Seed Installation

Yesterday, 1 December 2021,  I visited twice the installation 'Clay and Seed' by Haveit Neox, Bamboo Barnes and Lilia Artis at Akimori/Akipelago, which will open officially on 5 December 12 PM SLT with music by Bsukmet Stormcrow.

The invitation I received read:

'CLAY AND SEED
A collaboration of art, utilizing 3D, 2D, and Text. For the Clay and Seed exhibit, Bamboo Barnes chose to focus on 2D artwork, Lilia Artis on poetry, and Haveit Neox on sculpture and architecture. The goal was to have these disciplines unite into a single work, which in this case of three like-minded artists, occurred organically.

Haveit’s galleries provide the supporting walls for Bamboo’s imagery, while Lilia’s poetry garnishes the windows of these clay buildings and thus closes the circle. During the process, each artist’s work contained a seed of inspiration for the other two. Being admirers of each other’s works for many years, it seems destiny smiled on these three with the opportunity to share their visions together and in an art region that inspired their creativity.

Describing the erosion of the environment and human relationships, the work of all three artists explores the fields of destruction, growth, abuse, hope, gratefulness, and loneliness.'

I love sneak peeks, when there's nobody around and I can walk around at my own pace and listen to the music. At entrance point there are several chairs to sit and relax, which I did. There are also 2 gift boxes one from Haveit and one from Bamboo.
When I started walking around I was immediately taken by the hares, which I spotted inside Haveit's barn building. After all my name is 'Haas' which is Dutch for Hare. My family I always call avi's in rabbit outfit.

I wandered around following the paths, I admired the many superb  artworks and builds of Haveit and the ditto images of Bamboo. Worth mentioning are also the great colors of the sky, the serene atmosphere of the installation set within a setting of sand dunes, the centaurs and horses .... and sooo much more 😀
Of course I couldn't resist to make a lot of images, which I show here in this post.

A sincere thank you to Aki (Akiko Kinoshi) who made this possible with her art sims Akimori/Akipelago, in which she gives so many artists the opportunity to show their works.

Do visit and enjoy this exquisite installation by Haveit and Bamboo and let yourself be enchanted. Don't forget to pick up the gifts, they are both lovely.

'I Want To Show You Something' by Venus Adored, the March exhibition at Nitroglobus

Poster made by David Silence, based on an image of Daantje Bons

'I WANT TO SHOW YOU SOMETHING', a curated exhibition by Venus Adored of commissioned and personal works by Daantje Bons.

A really surprising exhibition this month at Nitroglobus, something completely different from all this gallery showed in the past: light boxes based on REAL LIFE Photography.
Daring, thought provoking RL images by Daantje Bons, a famous Dutch photographer who earned her spurs, transformed by her friend Venus Adored into light boxes.
Please be aware that there is nudity involved in some of the works.
I am sure you will be surprised and amazed by Daantje's images and Venus her creations.

Opening party: Monday, 1 March, 12 pm SLT (21 hrs Amsterdam time)
Music by DJ hEIN!

Daantje Bons   (visit her webiste: https://www.daantjebons.com/home/)

It often starts with a feeling or observation. Usually, something that makes me want to challenge it.

'I want to show you something'. This is my biggest motivation to photograph.
Learned behaviors both physically and mentally serve as my inspiration. I want to explore how identity is formed and to what extent social constructs are part of it.

The expressions of gender identity and sexuality particularly interest me. Based on my personal experiences, questions, and opinions, I search what it means to be a woman and how femininity and masculinity play a role in this. Self-portraits are a way to organize my thoughts and a way to react to existing ideas.
Also, I like to elaborate on certain ideas through still life photography works in which certain objects, shapes, or judgments are linked to the idea of femininity or sexuality.

Both in my self-portraits and still life works I like to play with contradictions and provocation because I think it's important that artwork makes one think. It has to provoke and trigger the viewer to think about the subject on another level.
In many of my photographs, I use soft pastel colors in which aesthetics is used as an eye-catcher, mostly followed by a raw contradiction in explicitly or ideas. This combination often lets humor arise within my work. Something I like to embrace to make my subjects more accessible.

My work has been featured in the Netherland’s largest newspapers and magazines such as De Volkskrant, NRC Handelsblad, LINDA Magazine, and &C magazine. Internationally, my work has been published in outlets such as “The Huffington Post”, “IGNANT”, “I-D Magazine”, VOGUE ITALIA, Kurier, FRAME Magazine, and “Refinery29”.
One of my works, Vulva, is an official artwork for the Vagina Museum in London.

Ex Machina by Caly Applewhyte @ Nitroglobus

Ex Machina by Caly Applewhyte, the July exhibition @ Nitroglobus.
Truly excited to have Caly's images at the walls of Nitroglobus during the month of July: half woman, half machine, artificial limbs, spine, body, brains.... a new era of artificial intelligence (robots/avatars) arriving, what are they and how should be look upon them and treat them?

Caly stipulates, using machina as an example, the myth of femininity, i.e. how women are trapped in an ideal image, denying their individuality. She concludes with the statement: 'What better allegory of the commodification of women than this reincarnation into machines?'

Opening party: Monday, 6 July
Time: 12 pm SLT (is 21 hrs Amsterdam time)
Music by JadeYu Fhang
Particles by Venus Adored & Kurk Mumfuzz
poster made by David Silence, based on image by Caly

I include here also the sneak peek poster, which I made based on one of Caly's images, that will be shown at the gallery.

Entropy by D e f o e, the May exhibition @ Nitroglobus

Truly happy with this exhibition 'Entropy' by D e F o e, which is her first show in Second Life & with the spectacular piece of art, 'Entropic System' specially made for this exhibion by Jadeyu Fhang.
Description of ENTROPY by D e F o e
'A journey deep into the bare rawness of the universe. The human being placed at the mercy of events, tossed about in the maze of life itself. We are but simple mannequins adorning the stage of the world, amidst its cold and sprawling asphalt jungles, opposing the placidity of its vast green spaces.
There we lay motionless, overwhelmed by our own vital flow.'

Opening party on Tuesday, 5 May at 1 pm SLT Amsterdam time)
Music by DJ Ferdy

taxi to Nitroglobus

Description of the sculpture by Jadeyu:
the spider is the system (society/nation/education/politics) which holds us humans in her grip, she pulls the iron chains, which make it impossible for us humans to move freely. Moreover, her cobweb entangles us to prevent us from escaping. In other words: we are enslaved by the system and cannot breathe freely.
This theme frequently occurs in Jade's work.

I show here two images of D e F o e, as hung on the walls of Nitroglobus atm. Come and visit.

Betty herself (Betty Boo) is DJ-ing at her party, with Aki hosting.

I was lucky to be able to visit yesterday evening and walked around, discovering all the cool animations and spots. I did need a pair of sunglasses coz the colors are very very bright :-)
It's a really cool installation  Betty made. Do visit!

Impostor by Fiona Fei

Today opened the installation Impostor by artist Fiona Fei at The Sim Quarterly. The installation will be in place until 30 May, sooo lots of time to visit.

I am a fan of Fiona's shuimo art (ink wash painting). Last January I visited her installation Reflection and Rising and wrote a blog post about it (click here for the link). For her installation at The Sim Quarterly Fiona used besides black ink also the color red. There are several cool poses (for instance on the red large hands) and fun stuff, like the calligraphy table.
There is interaction and fun, however, for me Fiona's former installation at her own gallery in black and white was more arty and serene.
