ONE DAY by Dido Haas

September 2021: exhibition ONE DAY at Nitroglobus by me and for a change not at my part of the gallery but @ the main hall.

Due to my 2 weeks holiday in September I decided not to organize an opening party. To be honest I created the works for this exhibition replacing an artist who cancelled.

Exhibited are some images made at my homeland beach, some photos made at the awesome Memento to mori chapel and some avatar studies and portraits. I called the exhibition ONE DAY, named after an all time fav poem.

For the first time I placed a sculpture made by Suzanne Graves in the main hall of Nitroglobus, called 'Shake your Troubles'. I love it and hope to show more of Suzanne's works in the future.

One day I wrote her name upon the strand.
but came the waves and washed it away;
Again I wrote it with a second hand,
but came the tide and made by pains his pray

'Vain man' said she,'that dost in vain assay,
A mortal thing so to immortalize;
For I myself shall like to this decay,
And eke my name be wiped out likewise.'

'Not so,' (quod I) 'let baser things devise
To die in dust, but you shall live by fame:
My verse your vertues rare shall eternize,
And in the heavens write your glorious name:
Where whenas death shall all the world subdue,
Our love shall live, and later life renew.'

'Claustrophobia' by Mareea Farrasco @ Nitroglobus

poster made by David Silence, based on an image of Mareea.

CLAUSTROPHOBIA by MAREEA FARRASCO

I am glad Mareea said yes when I asked her to exhibit at Nitroglobus and challenged her to show another side of herself, meaning out of her comfort zone i.e. her beautiful landscape images. She choose claustrophobia as the theme for her exhibition.

First thing that comes up when I think of claustrophobia is an experience I had many years ago when being in a cave deep under ground level, warm, humid and not able to stand up, arghhh panic the feeling caught me suddenly that I might never be able to get out and see the sky again.

So many different situations will give us the feeling of being confined, however, Mareea choose the topic with something else in mind.

Mareea also 'dressed' the gallery, which she did in her own impeccable way.

                                         * * * * *
Mareea's description of the exhibition:

A form of anxiety, disorder; claustrophobia is defined as an irrational fear of small, confined spaces. The feeling of being trapped, with no way to escape, can lead to panic attacks. Approximately 10% of the population is affected by this mental disorder.
Why I have chosen claustrophobia as theme for this exhibition? Because we live, these days, in a confined, pandemic universe of our own, and we are all more or less “claustrophobic”, even without suffering from this disorder in our normal, healthy lives.

This exhibition is my metaphoric way to express those feelings, trying to rationalize them, in order to make them endurable.

Oema made a cool short Youtube video about the exhibition.

Inara Pey wrote a great thorough analysis (as usual) in her blog 'Living in a Modem world'.

some gallery overview images:

The opening party was Monday 3 August with tunes by DJ Ferdy and particles by Venus Adored. Many visited and I made lots of images. Lemme show you a few here:

'Forbidden Fruit' exhibition, the January 2020 exhibition at Nitroglobus

'Forbidden Fruit' the present (January 2020) exhibition by Monique (Moni) Beebe at Nitroglobus gallery.

I am really happy to present for the 4th time an exhibition by my SL and RL friend Moni Beebe.

This time, however, next to images in her more 'usual' sensuous, evocative style which present studies of the female body (her own), Moni got inspired by a RL exhibition of famous Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf, which she visited last Spring in the Gemeentemuseum The Hague. Especially the mood of the early series 'Squares' and 'Chessmen' by Mr Olaf you will notice are reflected in some of the images of this present exhibition 'Forbidden Fruit'.
For those not familiar with the works of Erwin Olaf, here's a link to his work:

Moreover, Kai Kohime created 'Pink Cherries'; an awesome mesh vuluptuous female sculpture surrounded by cherries and pears, AND fitting perfectly with the images of Moni.

The opening party took place last Sunday 29 December, with particles by Venus Adored and music by DJ Ferdy.
The exhibition will be in place for another 3 weeks. Here's your taxi to Nitroglobus gallery.

I won't place more of Moni's works here in this blogpost, giving you the reader a reason to visit the gallery.

Opening party @ Nitroglobus for Maloe Vansant

Last evening (Wednesday 27 November, European time) I organized an Opening party for Maloe Vansant. Her exhibition 'The Moon lives in the Lining of your Skin' will be decorating the walls of Nitroglobus gallery for the coming weeks.

Many people visited the party yesterday evening to admire Maloe's photos and to dance on the cool music of DJ Sin.
It was a great party. Thanks to all who visited! To those who couldn't tp in my sincere apologies. Do visit the coming weeks.

Just noticed that famous art reviewer Inara Pey wrote an article in her blog 'Living in a Modem World' about Maloe's exhibition at Nitroglobus entitled 'Art in reflection of Self and Poetry in Second Life'.
As always Inara made a great analysis of the exhibition. It's worthwhile reading!
Thanks sooo much Inara 💓

My exploring friend Ed Rhode, who also visited the party made this cool overview snapshot:

Many visitors made great pics. This one by Absentia Indaco is a really cool one, which I like to share here. See all pics she made in her FB album of the event.
